How do we really know God is faithful? How did the men and women of the Bible know that God is faithful. Well, if you take a look back upon their life and see the work of God throughout their life , you will see God's faithfulness. People like David, who even as a young boy, God's hand was upon him. And Joseph, look at how God groomed him to become 2nd in command of pharaoh. Many, many others were also shown by God of His faithfulness. As I thought of this, I decided to take a look back and see the many glorious things God has done for me and my family and the proving of Himself time and time again.
I recall a time when I was seven years old, back in the times of record players. I used to lie on the floor and listen to my dad's praise and worship records and just sing and sing. The more I sang, the more God's presence hovered over me. Eventually, I was crying in the presence of the Lord and praising Him. You tell me, how does a seven year old recognize the presence of the Lord and can tell others of His faithfulness? God did it! Even as a young child, God's presence was felt and complete trust in an unseen God was manifested in my young life. I don't ever remember questioning God as a child and I always trusted and had faith in Him.
As time went on I recall my sister having a brain tumor and watching the healing power of God upon her little life; she was totally healed. My brother had a heart murmur and God also healed him. My daughter had a terrible urinary track infection and was asked for a urine sample to determine the severity of the infection. The sample was sent to a lab and the results came back that she had a very bad infection; however, the next day, as the culture grew, the lab results came back as no infection at all. You see, God can even reverse a prognosis for the better. The doctors were amazed and everyone who was involved was amazed. God is faithful.
I can't say there was never a time I questioned God's faithfulness. It was way back in college when I was roommates with a very intelligent young woman. She often would challenge me on why I believed what I believed. I really didn't have answers for her, much of the time. As a child, I knew that I knew, it was inbred in me and I never really questioned God; however, after awhile my roommate made me try and explain my reasons of why I believed what I believed and I am a better person for it. She, however, has become a non-believer. It was ingrained in me because I recognized the presence of God, even as a young child.
What an awesome responsibility I have, as a parent. I must train my child to recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit. What if I did not have the opportunity to attend church on a regular basis? How would I learn about His presence? Yes, in the home, but what if my parents did not practice being in the presence of God at home? Then what?
You see, God's faithfulness is so easy to understand because God is hovering over me, daily. I recognize Him, I am learning His voice, I sense His presence. Thank you Lord, for allowing me to have a past history of learning about Your presence and also knowing of Your faithfulness.
